Campus Nurse
A campus nurse is on staff to help students out with minor ailments and for consultations. Students are entitled to 1 free visit to the Mayville Meritcare Clinic each year with an authorization slip from the nurse.
Wellness
Mayville State often hosts speakers, workshops, and activities on topics such as:
* drug abuse * risk reduction * HIV/AIDS awareness * human sexuality * relationship development * physical wellness * stress management
Presentations are given by nationally and regionally recognized speakers, as well as some of our own faculty and staff. Student input on campus programs is often gathered via surveys, student membership on committees, and direct communication with student organizations.
Wellness Center
The new Wellness Center features the following:
* aerobic and dance area * fitness area * locker rooms * showers * offices * courts for intramurals, team practices, and special events * walking path
The normal operating hours for the Wellness Center are as follows:
* Sunday - 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM * Monday - 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM * Tuesday - 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM * Wednesday - 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM * Thursday - 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM * Friday - 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM * Saturday - 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The MSU pool is open to MSU Students, Staff, Faculty & the General Public.

Counseling Services
Counseling services are provided in such areas as:
* personal development * coping with conflict * improving self-understanding and interpersonal relationships * time management * developing realistic career plans
Referrals to professional counseling services off campus are available as needed.
Student Health Insurance
A low cost health insurance policy for students who don’t have coverage under their parents is available through Vaaler Insurance.
Safety
University night watch staff conducts foot patrols in University buildings and grounds between the hours of 9:00 pm and 5:00 am, seven days a week. They document violations of university regulations and report violations of state and local laws. Two-way radio contact is maintained by night watch personnel with local police for incidents where police support is necessary. The local Mayville Police Department staff provides support should incidents of criminal activity occur.
Each residence hall has their wing doors locked on a 24 hour basis. Residence hall assistants make their rounds through the dorms several times a day and serve as a direct link to the local police.
