Coaches

Majerus is a native of Goodhue, Minn. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., where she was a four-year athlete in basketball and softball. She earned a master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn.

Majerus began her tenure at Mayville State in the fall of 2007 when she joined the staff as assistant women’s basketball coach and adjunct instructor in Health Physical Education and Recreation.

Prior to coming to Mayville State, Majerus was the assistant softball coach at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. for four years. She has also served as head softball coach at Bloomington Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minn., head softball coach at Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa, and assistant softball coach at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa.

Smith pitched for two years at Consumnes River College in Sacramento, where she was named the Offensive Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 and Defensive Player of the Year in 2003.

Smith then transferred to Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md., where she was named Rookie of the Year in 2004. She graduated from Morgan State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.

Most recently, Keyana has been the junior varsity coach at Florian High School in Sacramento, Calif. and the junior varsity and varsity coach at Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, Calif.
