"This is a great opportunity to keep the football program moving forward from the foundation that has been built over the past few years," Chin said. "I am very excited about the student-athletes we have in the program because they understand that hard work, commitment, character, and teamwork are important for a team to be successful."

Chin was an integral part of helping turn around the Comets program over the past three seasons.

"I would like to thank Mike Moore and the administration for this opportunity and also thank the community and university for its continued support in Mayville State Athletics," Chin said.

Prior to coming to Mayville State he coached and taught in the HPE department at Southern Oregon University, an NAIA school located in Ashland, OR. Chin was the wide receivers and tight ends coach for the SOU Raiders from 2001 to 2006. He was a part of two National Playoff teams that reached the Quarterfinals in 2001 and 2002. He also spent two years in the program as a quarterback after transferring from Linfield College his freshman year.

Chin earned his Math/Business degree in 2003 and Health and Physical Education master's degree in 2005 from Southern Oregon University. Also during his time coaching football at SOU he was the assistant head softball coach, coaching primarily the pitchers and outfielders in 2002 and 2003.

As a three-sport athlete at Lost River High in Klamath Falls, OR, he was the 1997 Souther Cascade League Player of the Year and a Class 2A all-state selection after passing for over 1,500 yards on the 1997 state championship team. He was also an all-league basketball player and an all-state baseball player where both teams played in the state championship games.

Coach Chin lives in Mayville with his wife Lindsey, who works for Mayville State University in Enrollment Services. They have a son, Braden, who is nine months old.

In his first season as defensive coordinator at Mayville State Coach Schlieve saw his defensive unit lead the conference in fumbles caused and fumbles recovered. He defense was second in the conference in takeaways per game averaging 2.7 turnovers per contest.

Prior to being named the defensive coordinator at Mayville State, Schlieve was a coordinator at Beulah Public Schools (ND). He started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Wahpeton Public Schools (ND). After one year at Wahpeton he was named defensive coordinator at Pillager Public Schools (MN). Following a one-year stint as defensive coordinator at Pillager, he was named the head coach and remained there for three seasons. In September of 2005 Schlieve was named the State of Minnesota football coach of the week. After being a head high school coach for three seasons he returned to Mayville State to coach the defensive line in the spring of 2007.

Schlieve earned his undergraduate degree in education at Mayville State University with a major in elementary education and a minor in coaching, graduating magna cum laude, in 2002. He earned his graduate degree in sports management from St. Cloud State University, also graduating magna cum laude, in 2007.

A four-year letter winner in college, Schlieve was twice named Academic All Conference (DAC-10) and once named Academic All American (NAIA). He also played in the National All Star Bowl at the linebacker position in Minneapolis, Minnesota after his senior season.

Coach Schlieve resides in Mayville with his wife Cora and his sons Camdyn & Xavier.

A graduate from Mayville-Portland-C-G High School (1983), Gremmels broke numerous school records as the star quarterback. Gremells went on to play quarterback for Mayville State while earning a degree in business management (1987).

LeClair began his intercollegiate football career at the University of Minnesota-Crookston while it was a 2-year university. LeClair later played college football at the University of North Dakota, where he was an All-American. As a senior he recorded 187 tackles, 3 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries fumbles, and 11 forced fumbles. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999. After his college career, LeClair was selected in the third round of the NFL draft in 1972.

LeClair played linebacker for 12 seasons in the National Football League with the Cincinnati Bengals and he later played in the USFL with the New Jersey Generals. He spent his first two seasons in the NFL mainly as a starter on the special teams unit, but became a starter on defense in 1974 and remained so for the rest of his career, recording 10 interceptions and 10 fumble recoveries. He made the Pro Bowl in 1976 and played in the Super Bowl in 1975 against the San Francisco 49ers.

In addition to his football career, LeClair was a member of the United States Army Reserve from 1972 to 1977. In 1975, he became famous for wrestling a bear at the Cincinnati Convention Center as promotional stunt for the Army reserve during his two weeks of annual training. LeClair fought the Bear to a draw.

After his NFL career, LeClair became the head coach of the Mayville State University football team from 1986-1988. He later became the mayor of Mayville and currently runs an insurance agency in the city.

Coach Cline is a native of Staples, Minnesota where he played football, basketball, and baseball for Staples-Motley High School. Coach Cline comes to Mayville State after spending the last couple years coaching high school football in Minnesota.

Coach Cline is working on finishing a degree in secondary education with a minor in coaching. Coach Cline is single and resides in Mayville.
