About Mayville State

Resources

Technology in the Classroom

In the summer of 2004, Mayville State became the first campus in the nation to issue TabletPC notebook computers to all students and faculty. Professors and students utilize the capabilities of the TabletPCs in the classroom and beyond.

Library

The main purpose of Byrnes-Quanbeck Library is to support teaching and learning at Mayville State University. However, the Library also provides recreational materials like best sellers, books on tape, DVDs, and children’s books. In print alone, the Library owns over 90,000 books, about 500 magazines, and over 50 newspapers. Those resources are supplemented by a growing collection of electronic periodical subscriptions and e-books.

Computer stations provide access not only to the Library’s catalog but also to full-text magazine and newspaper indexes and to the Internet. The Library has wireless Internet capabilities on both floors.

MSU Bookstore

The MSU Bookstore is your headquarters for all course materials, supplies, MSU apparel and gift items, general books, computer supplies and residence hall convenience items. This easy one-stop shopping provides advantages for you.

Tutoring

Tutoring service is free and available to all students who seek assistance in learning material for their courses. The tutors are upper-class students who have been recommended by faculty as experts in specific subject matter. Tutoring sessions can be arranged one-on-one or students can attend group study sessions lead by tutors. Group sessions are often held to prepare for quizzes and exams.

A list of current tutors is posted in the hallway of the Classroom Building and is emailed to students each semester.

For more information on tutoring services, contact Greta Kyllo, Coordinator of the Academic Support Center, (701) 788-4747 or email kyllo@mayvillestate.edu.

Students with Disabilities

Mayville State instructors allow modifications to coursework and testing procedures that give students with disabilities an equal opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge. To assist students in meeting the academic requirements of a degree program, Mayville State tailors services to address students’ specific needs.

Academic accommodations for students with disabilities include:

* Access to Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)
* Notetakers
* Lab assistants
* Testing accommodations
* Supplemental instruction

For more information on disability services, contact Greta Kyllo, Coordinator of the Academic Support Center, (701) 788-4747 or email kyllo@mayvillestate.edu.
