Friends, Food, Football, and Fund-Raising Highlight Farmers Bowl 2009
Good friends, good food, Comets football, and a fantastic fund-raiser highlighted the 15th annual Mayville State University Farmers Bowl celebration on Saturday, September 26. The Farmers Bowl, sponsored by the MSU Foundation, teams Mayville State University with the community in a festival celebrating the area’s agricultural way of life. Yearly activities include a parade, corn on the cob and hot dog feed, Mayville State Comets football game, and a fund-raising auction. This year, a home Mayville State volleyball game was also a part of the activities.

Harvey McMullen to be Honored During Mayville State University Homecoming Festivities
Among the activities planned for Mayville State University’s homecoming festivities is a “Salute to Harvey McMullen.” A short program honoring Harvey will be held at the KT Hall in Portland, N.D., beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10. The “Salute” is part of an all-alumni and friends homecoming social that will take place at KT Hall from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. on October 10. A picnic-style supper will be served from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The social will continue following the program and until 11:00 p.m. The public is invited to take part in the supper, the program, and the social.

Mayville State University Street to be Named for Stan Dakken
Mayville State University officials have announced that College Drive will be officially named for Mayville State University and city of Mayville celebrity Stanley Dakken. A ceremony recognizing the designation of Stan Dakken Drive will be held during Mayville State’s homecoming festivities on Saturday morning, October 10, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The program will be held on the lawn across the street from the northeast corner of the Mayville State Campus Center.

MSU Comet Athletic Club Sportsmen’s Raffle Is Huge Success
The third annual Mayville State University Comet Athletic Club Sportsmen’s Raffle event held Saturday evening, September 12 at the Mayville Armory, was a huge success. Preliminary figures show that about $30,000 was raised in the event. Proceeds will be used to support scholarships for Mayville State University student athletes. The highlight of the evening was the raffle drawing for 50 guns that were given away to individuals who had purchased raffle tickets for a chance to win. The event also included dinner and a variety of other raffles, games, and prizes.

Mayville State University’s First-Day Headcount Enrollment Is Up by 13.5%
First-day figures show that Mayville State University is experiencing significant enrollment increases in all categories this fall. The first-day headcount enrollment is 824. This represents a 13.5% increase over the first-day headcount for the fall of 2008, and the largest headcount at Mayville State since 2005.
